Clean energy (solar, hybrid, etc.) should be our primary utility source, while use of oil and other non-renewable energy sources should be minimized to both preserve them as resources/slow their depletion and alleviate synonymous environmental hazards. And oil companies with the resources to really advance solar, hybrid, and other clean energy markets locally and globally should take the lead in mainstreaming and globalization initiatives, while continuing to market oil/gasoline, etc. for such purposes as recharging relevant hybrid vehicles, which should supersede or wholly replace conventional, exclusively-gasoline-powered automobiles, etc.
Can you imagine what would happen if the whole world was suddenly industrialized and utilizing traditional energy sources? The planet would likely explode. Industrialization of developing nations should be in serious planning, however, and inevitable in implementation.
