Students in all schools—primary, secondary, and post secondary—should be required to clock in upon arrival at school for the same reason that employees are required to clock in themselves, a matter of data integrity and security. For merited reasons, there are firm policies in work settings against employees clocking in for one another, and students should be required to clock in themselves for the same reasons, accountability, and so that an accurate and precise count of students present can be tallied into the general count of all persons (staff, students, and visitors) in school buildings at any given time each school day…

Student attendance clocks, which would have the precise or accurate time (whereas frequently and particularly none-digital clocks do not), should sync with Power School and other student information systems utilized by schools; they should be placed near approved school entrances to register count of all students entering campuses and/or they could be placed in all classrooms. Placement of student attendance clocks near approved student entrances and in classrooms would help register count of all students in school buildings and the number of students who report to class. Instructors should log into the system to verify that all present students have successfully clocked in, however.

Once all students are designated computers to align with conversion to exclusively tech-based learning, attendance would be automatically reported for students once they log into their computers (Students could also be required to log off of their computers during restroom visits or for any other reasons in this system and specify the reasons. For example they could click on a restroom, office, or other icon)…

Student Attendance/Tracking Bracelets

Schools could also disburse attendance bracelets to students and instruct parents to make certain that their children are wearing them when they leave home for school each day. Parents and/or law enforcement could also require children to wear the bracelets after school* to keep track of their whereabouts…

Schools, parents, and law enforcement would all be capable of logging into an online student tracking system that would sync with student attendance/tracking bracelets and seeing where students are at all times. *This would curtail truancy and criminal activity amongst school-age children. A system of the sort would discourage criminal activity amongst all persons, including adults, because when crimes are committed law enforcement would be capable of seeing precisely who is where when they occur.

The prescribed student attendance clocks would, of course, be distinguishable from attendance kiosks that are presently utilized in schools, which would be far too time-staking to utilize for clocking in all students at any given school. Student clock-in would have to be something simple, like scanning a thumb or index finger, or use of biometric attendance clocks, which would be an essentially brief process that would not hold up other students entering school buildings.

Teachers, parents, and students, where relevant, should be capable of logging into Power School and other student information systems and seeing the precise time that students arrive for or clock in to class each day juxtapose general attendance information.

Again, this would improve school/building and public security juxtapose improving student attendance. Recording specific times that students arrive for school and/or class could additionally confirm whether or not a student is truly tardy or on time; it could additionally be utilized for verifying students’ whereabouts during specific events…
