All rapid rail platforms should be secured by shields that would extend from platform to ceiling on both sides of all rail tracks. The prescribed shields would encase automatic doors that would align with the doors of each train and simultaneously open with the doors of each rail car once a train has come to a stop. Rapid rail platform shields would offer rail passengers protection from exposure to open rail tracks or threat of falling onto them, avail additional advertising opportunities to business owners, etc., and ultimately save lives.
